On the left side on the wiring diagram is a connector (brown & blk w/white stripe wires) called "open connector behind headlight" = 12V
what can it be used for? also can I buy the matching female connector ?

This is a 12v switched connector for accessories, so that they cannot draw power when the key is off. I run my GPS on it. Use it for whatever you like keeping in mind not to exceed the available portion of the system output, and to not draw too much of a load for the wire size at that connector.

I fashioned my own blade connectors to fit the plug and taped it up.

12v switched power is how I was reading it but just wanted to make sure.

Just be aware this is the parking light connector for those countries that require front headlight parking lights. If you use the parking light feature on your machine this connector will be energized.
