Looks like I'm the only Eurotrash here at the moment.....so just to get this section going here's some stuff from Xmas Day 2008!
Location.....NE Granada, Andalucia, Southern Spain!
I went to church......didn't plan to go......but I ended up there! I was hoping to get a Xmas Day ride....but it was freezing, with snow still on the ground!

When I'd done 60 miles I reached Caravaca de la Cruz.....which is apparently the fifth holiest city in the world. So as it was Xmas Day I thought I'd visit the church and sanctuary which overlooks the city...which is some sort of historic medieval building.
Had to ride through the cobbled footpaths of the Medieval Quarter to get to it....not sure that was entirely legal, but if I got pulled I'd just play the dumb tourist card.

So I reached the church at the summit which is built like a castle. You enter the main courtyard through giant gates....and this is what you see...

The views over the city are amazing....

All those were taken on what essentially is the balcony of the castle....

And the church building is in the middle....

Went inside and it was amazing.....but there were people worshipping (very emotionally) so it wouldn't have been appropriate to take photos! But the place was like a palace....absolutely incredible!
There was a seperate courtyard....not sure if it signifies anything!

Then back on the bike....and a 60 mile return journey.....by which time the temperatures were really dropping!
But I did it! Home by 5.30pm.....and a Xmas Day rideout with a difference......a visit to church!
