I have already suffered hearing loss and have a real bad case of tinnitus. I have to take ear protection seriously to protect what is left of my hearing. After pretty much trying all the different ear plugs out there, I tried these and have been real happy with them. I ordered the neck cord with screws. This makes them more difficult for an old guy to loose. I have seen these on the shelf in Sportsman's Warehouse :shoot: in the ear protection isle.

This has been a very informative post for me as I am experiencing the same hearing loss and problems as you Tech23.
Will look for these earplugs. Thanks! :drinks:

Moldex sparkplugs with the cord. Discovered them while working offshore. Always pick up a box or two every year. Shooting, metal working, riding, sleeping in strange hotels, etc....

Just keep a couple pair in your jacket pocket.

I've been using some Ethymotic 6i Isolator earphone for about a year. They are designed for music but work exceptionally well as plugs when I don't run the music. First earplugs I've been able to wear all day without making my ears hurt

I'm trying these out http://www.earplugsonline.com/ They are kind of like modeling clay that you mold and press in. I cut one plug in half and made two plugs.Plenty of material there. So far very comfortable and good on blocking the noise. On a trip however,I am bad about losing earplugs so we shall see. :drinks:

Just got mine in the mail this week. The process to put them in takes a bit longer, but they seal very well. No ear-itation either, as they are all natural. I'm liking them so far. :s_thumbsup

I use surefire EP (3,4,6, etc... they're all good) plugs anytime I need hearing protection.

They're friggin' amazing. Almost no distortion of sound at normal volumes, and all but blocks out sound above 80dB or so.

Plus, they fit under helmets very well, insert quickly, and were actually originally designed specifically for motorsports use.

x2 on the Surefire EarPro EP's. Great sound protection, multiple sizes for all ears, and the most comfortable I've worn.

I use Moldex plugs (no cord) for the same reason as the OP -- too many years of loud music has affected my hearing. Here's the strange thing: I find that the sound of the speakers in my Nolan N90 modular helmet is much better with the earplugs IN! I think it's because all the high end wind noise is gone with the plugs and so both music and phone calls sound much clearer than without them.
