Nah . You didn't buy the wrong sized bin . You just bought early for the mini-bike you're about to acquire .

 Couldn't find the exact 40qt can at walmart. Looked for sterlite 40qt online didn't find it either! Tried measuring some near 40 qt cans at store but couldn't get the 15+" width on the flat side of can. So can you give the sterlite model number? Looking forward to this farkle.

Thanks

Tomorrow, I've got a full day, but I will try to squeeze in a run to Walmart, or Lowes and pick up a couple of cans. You actually don't have to have a totally flat side to work with. The bends end up running down the outside edge and give it a pretty descent shape. I'll try to do a three part video series. Making a template, Marking and cutting, and Shaping. I'll try to make four screens each with a slightly different angle. They'll all be 15" tall because you can always cut off the top without altering anything else. So, it'll probably be Wednesday before I get all three uploaded.
