Beautiful scenery, friend! What kind of road conditions do you have in the area? Are there legal dirt routes for you, or mostly paved? Sorry if that is a silly question, but there are large areas of the US (mostly around high population densities) where people have to crowd onto a few designated areas if they want to enjoy off pavement fun (especially if that involves motorized toys) and I have been curious about how other parts of the world manage their undeveloped territory.

Quite a nice day today - 21°C, no wind to speak of but alas about 50% cloud. However, nice enough for a short jaunt. Took a scenic route out of town via a suburb called Bayonet head, overlooking Oyster Harbour, Emu Point and beyond across King George Sound to Frenchman Bay and Bald Head.

Then headed east about 65Km to Cheyne Beach (pronounced "chain"). Was lucky to get a few sunnier moments out there. There are few retirees living at Cheyne Beach - fishing tragics all of 'em. Stopped and admired the view for a while whilst eating some lunch.

Came home from there via Waychinicup (pronounced "why" "chin" "i" (as in bit or hit) "cup"). Quite prettyish. Some really nice camping spots there too.

PS You need to look at may pix from the last back to the first. This silly programme puts 'em all in reverse order. Also, how do I place a few pix, then some commentary, then some more pix, then some more commentary etc?

More restrictions! Looks like I need to make a 2nd post to add the last few pix.

These are the Waychinicup pix. As the crow barks Waychinicup would only be about 4 or 5 Km from Cheyne Beach.

The vast majority of Oz has no-one there to be able to police it. That part is good, but on the down side, most of it is pretty damn uninviting territory. Camping here in West Oz particularly is hindered by the extreme lack of fresh water. There are some beautiful places to go but you have to carry EVERYTHING with you - fuel, water, food, spares etc. For most of Oz you only have satellite phone or epirb to get help if you're in a serious fix. Summer temps, in the sun (because there are no trees mostly) in the desert will hit >80°C most days. A fit man can last nearly 8hrs without water - less for we fat ol' farts.

Generally speaking however, we can mostly get on our bikes and head bush with impunity in WA. I think the city slickers have more constraints, but anyone living in the city deserves it! :s_tongue
