Although I love the look of the old DR 750/800, I would much more prefer my DR with a big bore kit and a weight saving of probably 100lbs over the others. Some of my cruiser buddies already can't believe when I rip past them on my DR with 50/50 tires and minimal mods. HHMMM with a 780 kit rippin by them they would probably go home with a sniffling frown, and jump in their minivan ( actually I love my minivan) and turn up an old cassette of Twisted Sister's "Were not gonna take it" while they drive down to the dealer and ask for a faster bike than my Super duper DR 780 fire breathin stump pullin Massey Furgeson chuggin econo machine! Wow that was a mouthful. Me thinks dirtyrod needs to go beddy bye now. Goodnight!

An increase of 10 cc from 780 to 790 represents only increasing the bore diameter by approximately 0.7 millimetre(0.027 inches), easily achieved with that thick liner.

my big concern wouldnt be so much how big CAN we make this motor, but much moreso, how much is TOO MUCH for the driveline to handle? I mean admittedly, when Suzuki designed these, they didnt build the clutch, transmission and other pieces to handle a LOT of power, they built em for the displacement/power they desgned the engine to make.
my point being, at some level, you've got to stop and consider, maybe I should invest in a custom built gearbox and beefier clutch to handle this power without breaking. or buy a larger bike.

Dirtyrod...what kinda mileage you gettin outta your 780 beast? I dunno about any 790 as I think that could be a typo at the beginning of the thread but not sure. I don't have a 780 as I was just imagining the poor bruised egos of some of my riding chums if i did have one. As far as the mileage? I doubt anyone here that may be installing one would be concerned with the miles per gallon as opposed to the smiles per gallon !

I dunno about any 790 as I think that could be a typo at the beginning of the thread but not sure. It is not a typo as it used to say 780cc plus there is reference to an increase of 10cc for 2012.
