There is a nylon spacer behind counter shaft sprocket. Switched sprockets, do you need this? How bad if do as want to do 400 mile ride in am,
Thanks Heirhead

There is no spacer behind the CS sprocket from the factory... some after-market 525 and 520 CS sprockets come with a spacer. If you are changing the CS sprocket make sure to use only the components that come with the new sprocket....

I think he's talking about that white circle thats on the stock 15 tooth sprocket. When I added the 14 tooth with the Pro Cycle retainer, I dont think that white nylon piece (cirlce thingy) went back on. Its been a while, but I recall trying to figure out how that damn thing was gonna go back on since the new retainer was a small triangle, and not a huge circle bracket like the stock one holding on the 15 tooth. I'm pretty sure I left it off. Maybe someone else can enlighten.

Are you talking about the vibration damper that goes behind the sprocket retainer? The OP said his spacer was behind the sprocket... maybe someone had installed it on the wrong side? Considering it's large diameter compared to the CS shaft I'd think it might be obvious that would be the wrong location for it. Either way the damper is not required and only works with 15 or 16 tooth sprockets using the original retainer.

Just by how it sounded, I was guessing that it was that nylon vibration ring. I can't think of what else it would be.

Thanks to all who responded. Yes, I said it was behind sprocket and it is not. Behind retainer that you spoke about. So it is for vibration but not needed with 14 tooth as Procycle sells the triangle retainer that does not use it. Went from sea level to 6,000 ft today, sunny and crisp. 200 miles exactly till reserve on new IMS tank. 3.85 gal.used topped off. 54 mpg with stock 15 tooth. OFF TOPIC Went to justgastanks in Oceanside yesterday to pickup yellow IMS tank. Rode my dr and brought tie-downs as I have a big rack. When I got there I bought tank as Ben gave me a great price a couple of days ago. As I was taking tank out to bike Ben asked how much time I had and would I like it installed. Being tight with my brass I said how much? He said no problem, no cost. WOW!! Just filled up 1 mile ago for the ride home. Ben and Thomas took my tank off, drained it and installed new 4.9 in no time. They put gas back in and I was off home after checking out all of the ,Wolfman, Giant Loop and all the other goodies they sell. Thanks guys. Now I know most people can't ride there but the price, and service was great. The install was Unbelievable. Who does that kind of thing!! Highly recommended. Heirhead

It's not really for vibration control but rather to hush the noise of the chain slinging around the front sprocket. Many other factory sprockets just have rubber pieces bonded to the sprocket itself. Because of the diameter it only works with a 15T sprocket. Leaving it off does no harm and you may or may not notice a little bit more chain noise.
