I'd like to stick with my stock exhaust, I like how quiet it is. I opened up my airbox and jetted the carb. Made a difference, and it works for me for now until I can get a REAL carb! Even in stock form this thing had more power than anything I had ever owned, took me a few rides to get used to it. I'm just now getting to where I would like some more punch in my throttle, it's not as exciting as it was when I bought it. I'm hoping my tax refund is hefty this year, maybe I can upgrade and sell my jetted BST.

As sad as I am to say this, I have never been on a two stroke moto. I've seen the enduro cross 2 strokes, that looks like it's a blast! :bumps:

I'm almost certain you could throttle wheelie with the stock exhaust provided you have the carb. 1st time I took off with the new pumper I lofted the wheel and it kinda freaked me out then I got used to it. Then I changed the front sprocket to a 14 and now it's hard to keep the wheel down. Actually throttle wheelie in 2nd at just the right rpm. :OMG: :woohoo:

No big bore needed, just the pumper carb modified air box high flo air filter and a q4 muffler. :woohoo:

When I got my DR it already had FCR-MX, twin-air filter, TK muffler, 15:45 gearing, and honestly I was a little disappointed. My XR400 wheelied much easier, my TT350 before that better still. Lighter bikes I guess.

Changed the DR to 14:45 gearing and it now pulls the front up in 2nd, throttle only. Much more fun  .

I need to stay away from the power mods, all they will do is get me in trouble and probably into the ER. Thirty years ago when I would loop it all I got was some road rash and a wasted rear fender.

Throttle wheelies show how much power and response your bike has. You won't do one with a stock DR that's for sure and I seriously doubt anyone is going to do any stunt riding on one either.you're comparing apples and oranges.

I beg to differ....... the DR is capable of almost any use one can dream of, short of being a full out race bike, including stunting. Wheelies aren't all about power and response........ it's more about weight transfer and timing. Ever see a big guy pull up a long wheelie on a mini? With all of 10 HP. That's not power that does that, but rather technique.
Check out the long wheelies these guys rip.......maybe it's not a full-boat stunt show, but it'll get you a ticket anywhere in the US you get caught doing it. I know this is somewhere else on the forum, but I think it illustrates a point here........

Mine will pull the front end up pretty easy with a quick roll on and a weight shift.. and it's stock except for a jet kit.

Love that video. That guy nearly yanking his arms out of socket to get the wheel up is classic. Guy I work with has a KLR, I'm going to send him the link to that video, Thanks. :good:

You don't need a big-bore, pumper carb, or a loud pipe to throttle-wheelie on a DR. Mine lofts in 1st with just throttle. 2nd requires some revs, letting off, then gassing it...stock piston, stock cam, stock pipe, stock gears. This is even with a full IMS 4.9, a tankbag, and tank panniers. My BST carb has the Procycle jet kit (slide drilled) and I run a UNI filter. If you can't throttle-wheelie a relatively-stock DR with just a Procycle jetting kit and a free-flowing filter, there is still some tweaking you could be doing. Add a flowing pipe and your DR should be THROWING the front wheel skyward in 1st. With an FMF Q on, I had to short-shift to 2nd if I wanted to accelerate with any quickness without lofting. The front wheel didn't want to stay down in 1st when accelerating until I put the stock muffler back on, and now it just tolerates a bit more throttle/rev before it comes up.

I recently changed to 16/46 sprockets and it has slightly better/smoother pull down low with a passenger, but not quite the mid and upper-range pull that it had with the FMF Q and stock gears.

I can also loft the front in 2nd by simply gassing it at mid-revs and pulling.

I don't know how to clutch wheelie.

I've always been a fairly "brisk" rider but never deliberately wheelied in traffic ; didn't want to attract "unfavorable attention" . On remote stretches , with no-one-else around , I enjoyed to play a bit . --- The worst bike for "accidental wheelies" , that I owned , was a 1977 Yamaha XT500 Enduro . In order to keep the fr.-wheel on the ground I had to lean forward (1st gear) . --- Riding up a steep slope at high speed was a real challenge . --- At that time I was about 215-220lbs. in riding-gear but really had to hang-out over the handlebars on difficult terrain . --- I loved that "putt putt" but it demanded a lot of "special care" . :s_biggrin
