No luck yet Jonboat and others as far as my stolen DR 650 goes. However, between what insurance will give me and what I will be getting back on my state and federal taxes I will have enough for a 2012 DR 650. The 2012 will be the same as my 2011 except for being gray instead of white. I like the look of the gray, but the white was more visible to drivers in their cages. One bummer is that Suzuki has a $500 online coupon for the purchase of a 2012 DR 650 and some other 2012 models, but it is only good to the end of January, and I do not think I will have all my money together until February. If the $500 coupon was good until the end of February I would have been golden.

Sorry again to hear about your loss. Not sure how dealers are in your area, but you shouldnt be paying MSRP on a bike anyway. Especially in this economy where play things are tough to sell. I would shop around, call around, speak with sales managers, even store owners and work your own price. I know its not the same situation, but I got my 2011 for under $4900 and thats with all fees and charges; brand new, right out of the crate. But I got it in October, so they were itching to unload 2011's anyway. But still, dont be lulled into the "must pay retail" mindset. Its winter now, so you have the cards in your favor; TIME! I would call all over, I bet there is a dealer out there just begging to unload a new 2011. Or even sell a 2012 at a reduced price. It cant hurt to ask and try. I've never paid MSRP on any bike in my life and I only buy new.

Well, I hate to say it, but I went over to the dark side and bought a 2011 KLR 650 to replace my stolen 2011 DR 650! The reason being because the Kawasaki dealer gave me a 2011 leftover for $5,592.70 out the door (including sales tax!) and the Suzuki dealer where I bought my 2011 DR 650 was going to charge me over $6,200 out the door (not including sales tax) for a left over 2011 DR 650. I will be spending over $200.00 for crash bars to protect the KLR 650's radiator and shrouds when the inevitable offroad dump happens, but the tax alone on the DR 650 would be almost double the cost of the crash bars. If the Suzuki dealer had been in the same ballpark with the Kawasaki dealer, I would have gotten another 2011 DR 650, but his best offer wasn't even close. I'll just have to get used to the big pig and it's six gallon gas tank! After I pay off my Jeep Liberty I may get a loan for a second bike, a DRZ-400.

Sorry about the Suzuki dealership troubles, but congrats on the new purchase! :drinks:

The KLR650 is a very popular bike of course, just as capable for what it does as the DR650, only in different ways. It's still a Dualsport.

Sorry your stolen DR was never recovered, but it seems the issue is resolved so I'm un-stickying the thread. Good luck with your new bike! :good:

Nothing wrong with the KLR IMO even though lots of folks like to slag them quite a bit. Too bad about the DR though but at least you're back riding again..... :bumps:
