Slightly off topic. Can a bent shift fork be seen by just eye balling it or would you need to compare it against a known good one?

It can be checked with a surface plate... the engagement ends of the forks need to be square (90 degrees) to the fork rods. Some forks can be laid down on a surface plate to check. The bottom line is the two tips of the forks have machined raised surfaces that run in the grooves in the gears... these tips need to be on plain with each other and they should be 90 degrees to the shifting fork rod. Normally a bent fork is fairly obvious even with just a slight bend as the face or the fork contact surface with the gear will discolor due to heat or show signs of wear/gauling.

Ah dam, well looks like ill be stripping down my engine. Was reading up on how to do it all. Bloody hell theres some work involved.... I think it will be the dogs for sure. The shop i took my bike to has experienced the same thing but with higher hoursepower with other suzuki engines.but this was only after turboing them and reaching around the 300+ hp mark, never expected it on mine tho. They all have that dog systems even the suzuki hyabusa. My bikes done about 25,000km when everything was replaced and modified and now has an extra 2,000ish just from ridding round. Not overly to much wear and tear. But im not a steady rider either. I give it hell! Where ever i can, and plenty of open throttles. But at the same time its always over maintained
Guess ill be pulling it appart. Its going to take me a long ass time!

But has anyone else experienced things like this? Or am i pioneering in this feild lol

Ok one dyno session is on youtube. If you search for this specificaly
"Suzuki dr780 dyno run"
You will see my bike. Its white with black motards and an onviouse number plate. Take notice at when te bike jumps on the dyno. It does it twice. The bike is bloody, stupidly loud. Just the way i like it!! But you cant hear it to well in the dyno room.

Heres the link

Im starting to suspect that theres something wrong with my charging circuit. And for some reason my coil is showing higher resistance on the primary windings. Thus limiting the votage. And ive been monitoring my voltage as i was ridding tonight (over 100km) and i noticed that the bikes charging circuit fluctuates badly. Usually im getting 14v or there abouts. Then other time it dips down below 12v and once i noticed it at 10v. All i had on was my head light. Thats it. No high beams. Nothing. And it fluctuates bad. But i pinned it full throttle up the massive hill on the freeway and it just wound out top gear. No surging, no slipping. Surly if it was mechanical it would be consistant??

Might have something to do with the coil or the way the bike charges.

having had ignition problems in the past, i can tell you if you're getting below 13 volts while the bike is running at any time, you got issues, and they aren't mechanical... normally.
Could be the stator, regulator / rectifier

Yes, a mechanical issue with a bent shifting fork or rounded engagement dogs won't come and go... it may not show up at lower loads but will be consistent at higher load. Sounds like you have another problem... the charging system/battery voltage looks to be a good place to focus on first.

Well I just so happen to have some recent experience with chasing electrical problems so PM me if you need some help. The Suzuki manual has some very good step by step testing proceedures, I would start with the stator and if it checks out good you may want to consider the Honda CBR600rr mos-fet regulator mod. Here is a link for reference.

Scroll down to the end I have some recent install pictures and results. Hope this helps. :drinks:
