To me there isn't 50 bux worth of difference, watching the raw video on my hd wide screen TV its very crisp, when you upload to you tube they screw up the definition. Maybe if I was going to use it for making a movie but nahhh.

agreed on that, kinda why I opted for a $22.99 8gb class 10, and that should be all I need anyway.

Yeah I went up there to buy a 16gb card, but they had the 32 on sale. I figured what the hell you know....

Now that you said so, we literally JUST replaced our old sharp 24" tube tv (20 years old) with a samsung 46" hd/3d/smart tv. HOLY CRAP were we missing out or what? I forgot about playing back video on the tv. Now I have to test it!

This tv is simply amazing. I hate to get off track and rant about a tv, but holy crap. We went from the "top of the line in the late 80's tv" (with fake wood grain ) To a "top of the line 2011 tv" and holy crap what a difference! I pulled a chair up to the tv to play dirt 3 on the ps3. The in car pov is crazy awesome on this tv. Almost like a simulator!

Anyway, back to the helmet cam and memory cards. 8gb should be enough to get you started (not sufre how you plan to use it)

Per the hd170 manual, 8gb card shotting in 1080 should give you about 1.5 hours of memory. 720 just over 2 hours of memory. I shoot in 720 regularly, that's like 9 hours on my 32gb card. I could film a whole road trip...

I hear ya on the tv change I went from crt to lcd 3 years ago and it blew me away also, technology is killer and look how far we have come since 1993 in this pic is the hard drive from the very 1st computer I built in 1994 notice the drive is a standard 5" tower style hdd and a whopping 170M ROFL next to it is the micro sd which is only 16G but could be 64G and the same size.

:OMG:

Yes that old hdd still works or it should, I oughta stick that thing in my drive enclosure and see if it still has any of my old DOS games on it. Win 3.11FWG might also still be on it. :tease:

That drive was in a 486DX2-66 and had a net blazing 9600baud modem. :woohoo:

Worst case, that old hdd would make a good paperweight.

Makes me feel like an old timer when I try and explain to my niece and nephew about how I grew up without internet and cell phones. They look at me all crazy like. :OMG: Then they try and tell me how bored THEY are. I grew up with a few matchbox cars, and plenty of rocks and sticks in the backyard to use as grenades and swords. On occasion a big cardboard box to crawl around in and make a fort out of. They grew up with satellite tv, playstation, and "smart" devices and tell me THEY are bored. I look at them and say "you see that stick over there? Go play!"

Those were the days ehh? Oh and I just had to try that old drive just to see and for a couple of secs it looked like it was going to fire up, it auto started installing drivers and then kinda went kerchunk kerchunk glick glick and froze my Win7 Laptop. Maybe I'll use it to weight down a crab trap or something. :s_biggrin

Just wanted to let y'all know the windshield mount works great, well worth the price. Not on the bike but on a car/truck. Tried it on the bike and the vibration made the video swampy.
