Still working on getting all my gear figured out. I just got a Velocity Gear Juggernaut armor and I think I like it although it is hard to get on with the zipper on the side.
Pants are my next quest and trying to decide between Klim Dakar or Chinook depending on whether I want in or over the boot. My problem with the Dakar is that my inseam is 29" and they are 33" so a bit too long. If I go in the boot with the Chinook, that's not a problem.
Here's my dumb question; do you wear knee guards inside or outside the pants?
Another dumb one; do pants over the boot help keep your feet dryer in rain or water crossings?

I wear knee guards under but I don't think there's a "rule".....although most I've seen go under.
I have tuck in pants that fit and I'm working toward a pair of Klims (over) which are a few pounds away.

+1 on the under. Unless you are wearing road riding track pants with knee puck sliders on the outside. That's the only time anything should be on the outside. I like those Klim pants, may have to pick myself up a pair....now for the color...ugh, why do they have to entice us with so many cool color choices? I have always liked pants that go over the boot for road riding and light trail stuff. But on the track, either road racing track or dirt track, the inside the boot is the way to go. You end up having a large stable of clothes, as there is no real one cure for all possibilities. In bad weather, like rain, outside the boot is my preference as it allows the water just to run off as opposed to funneling it into the top of the boot leaving you with 2 aquariums on your feet. For long trips in the rain, I even use those bicycle Velcro straps used to keep you're pants out of the chainring when biking, wrapped around my ankle of my pants to help seal out water from under neath getting blown up my pants legs.

I've had good luck with catching Atomic Moto sales for Klim stuff. Brian had no problem exchanging a pair that didn't fit and gave me a good deal on my Gaerne S-10's.

Knee guards inside the pants, pants outside of boots- keeps me feeling safe and dry (and not too alien when I stop at a restaurant for lunch. ) ............shu

I ride offroad a lot, so I wear full motocross boots (Moose Racing), motocross pants and kneepads on the outside. I had a bad experience once with over-the-boot pants. I was riding through some rough areas where they'd been logging and there were deep skidder ruts and a lot of slash-cut branches laying around. I stuck my foot out to brace through a big rut and a sharp branch ran up my pant leg, leaving a bad gash on my thigh. Nearly pierced the family jewels, if ya know what I mean. Pants inside boots for me.

With jewels in tact.

With jewels in tact. Thanks. It was a long time ago, I was riding a new (at the time) RM465 in jeans and work boots. Young and dumb I know now, but not many riders wore full gear back then. Granted it was a freak thing but I'm still paranoid about pants outside the boots... I have a 14" scar to remind me.
