Huh... could have sworn I posted here last night...

1978 GT250 X7, when I bought her. She's a daily ride so is looking a bit rough now, needs a full resto anyway so I'm selling as soon as the DR gets home :D

Also have an SR500 in bits between several houses, and have laid claim to the remains of an old XL350 (rolling frame, carby (that was on the SR for some reason) and rusty bottom end)

My new shiney DR will be the first bike built this side of 1990 that I have ever rode, never mind owned :D

I owned this 1976 Hodaka Thunderdog 250 for a few months. I rode it around the block but couldn't bring myself to take it in the dirt. The side panels are $100 each if you can find them, the tank I had was "rare" and "early" in production so I didn't want to damage that. Sold it to the VP of the Hodaka Club.

This is an odd bike I never knew existed 'til I saw it on my local Craigslist. Got it from the original owner, running but in need of a little TLC. I found a turn signal for it....and the Holy Grail (if there is such a thing)....the Air Pump that mounts to the bike for airing up the tires after those grueling sand adventures. (found it OEM on a dealers shelf in Muskegon MI...gotta love the internet). #33 http://www.bikebandit.com/1974-suzuki-m ... #sch267011

1974 Suzuki RV125 - just after it's first bath. I couldn't pass it up for $250.

I found a yellow helmet & yellow Suzuki Racing jacket....I'm gonna go head to toe yellow and show up at our local group's Desert Dash on it. (I'll bring the DR to actually ride the event) http://www.dualsport-sd.com/SDAR_Desert ... _final.pdf

bchunter - there's a duplicate of that bike on SD CL in the past few days....very tempted.

Those are some awesome bikes. I really like the older bikes, as there is just something about cruising around on an old hunk of iron. :good:

The TS is great as it can do both hwy and dirt quite well. I just have to redo the lighting on it and I use it as my around town ride. And the amazing thing is that I can still get parts for it from the dealer.

I always get caught up with the older bikes. When I see newer bikes for sale, I like them, but when I see an old ride for sale, it makes me think silly thoughts. The TS cost me $300 and I rode it for a year as my everyday bike before I got the DR - I needed something with a little longer legs for the longer jaunts and long commute to work.

Keep the pics coming :drinks:

Unfortunately, I don't have any vintage rides. But do any of you remember Rik Smits. He was the center for the Indiana Pacers in the 90's. He was the center when the Pacers went to the NBA finals in 2000.
Anyway, after he retired from the NBA, he just seemed to disappear. Well, not if you live in central Indiana. My wife and I have seen him at restaurants. We also saw him one day at the Friday night hang out of classic cars in the little town of Mooresville, IN, just south of Indy. You can't miss him. He is like 7'4".
Well he is into classic MX bikes. He races old dirt bikes from the 70's and 80's in the vintage AMA races. Even won a few.
I have seen a few pictures of him on some of those 70's bikes. They were smaller than today's MX'ers. Looks like a giant on a bicycle!
But he apparently owns over 100 vintage dirt bikes. I just found out that there is a shop on the north side that he displays some in.
A place called IndyMoto. They sell Beta's and Gasgas bikes. I didn't even know the place existed. Going to go check it out one day. I will try to get some pics.
Old article but it has some interesting info: http://www.sportable.com/2006/10/07/wha ... rik-smits/

I love the older bikes too. I keep wanting to go to the AMA Vintage days over in Ohio. Just haven't made it.

Here is my old faithful 1972 Suzuki TS185 It is the best dirt bike that I have ever owned.

bought it for $50. rode it till the rings were so worn that the piston hit the wall. Then rebuilt the motor from the ground up and still riding it today

my 67 Triumph. Although it's dressed as a Bonnieville, it's actually a TR6C. Single carb and supposed to have scrambler pipes but I built this as a 'rider'. Electronic ignition/charging system, halogen headlight, 69 front end, etc. It's going up for sale soon. I just don't ride it much anymore.
