Hi Guys,

My bike is converted to Sumo and now I'm looking at doing suspension upgrades. I'm looking for feedback from you guys on what works and what isn't worth doing. For example, is it worth having the stock shock re-built for $600 at Cogent, or is it best to buy new for $900?

For the front forks, is it best to find some from a DRZ400SM or re-work the stock units with Cogent springs and DDC's?

Thanks!

All depends on your budget of course.

For street riding I found the Ricor shock with Intiminators a very good setup (bit on the harsh side for offroad, but very good against brake diving).

Shock $550.-
Intiminators: $180.-
Add front springs and oil: $120.-

cheers!

I did Cogent's DDC/Spring upgrade, very satisfied after a couple of test ride. Huge difference over stock.

Not knowing your mechanical aptitude or if your are a DIY'er but you can also re-valve the shock at home with a Gold Valve kit, new seal head and a quart of shock oil.

Ricor Intiminators up front w/stock springs
Cogent Mojave out back
Handles and rides great.

I went with Cogent DDCs up front and their complete shock shaft assembly out back. LOVE the way it handles. My avatar was with stock suspension and I was scraping boot but still left a good 1/2" chicken strip on the tires, now I'm grinding down the directional arrows on the tires and my boot hasn't touched once. Front is stiff enough to do stoppies without feeling like the forks are going to fold under, but still loose enough to take on curbs without jarring my wrists. Rear is stiff enough to not compress excessively during wheelies, but still keeps my spine happy over bumps on the freeway.

Anyone try FFRC's plex valves, or better yet have a chance to compare them to the other options out there??
