Hey there guys!

I'm new to DR's and I recently picked up an older model of DR650 – 1992. However, it's not in the best shape possible, so I decided to ask around here about few things that keep bugging me before actually going to a mechanic and have my wallet ripped apart. :s_rofl

  • Over-reving in 4th gear (when I ride with some heavier load behind, when I go full throttle my RPMs go normally to like 5.000 and then just jump like crazy to 7.000 without actually delivering power)
  • Oil leakage right on the drain plug (it's not actually dripping or visible, but when I touch it with my finger, I get some oil on it)
  • Clutch seems a bit slippery (i don't know if this is normal, but when I hold clutch while in neutral I get this almost unoticable sound coming from my engine)

I hope that some of you are well experienced in pre-96 models and can help me out with these couple of issues! Thanks!

:pimped:

Worn out clutch. Replace friction plates, drive plates and springs ASAP.

^^ ditto. For your leaking drain plug.. remove, clean, new copper washer. done.

change your oil when you do the clutch plates. That burnt clutch oil isn't the best stuff for your motor.

I ordered the following:

  • Complete Engine Gasket Kit Set
  • EBC DRCF Carbon Clutch Kit with Springs
  • CNC Magnetic Oil Drain Plug
  • Mahle Oil Filter
  • CARBURETOR CARB REPAIR REBUILD KIT

I'm hoping that changing all these will do the trick and make it work a little better. Thanks for the tips and help guys!

Let me know how that clutch works out. I need to change mine in my 92' and was wondering whether to get the standard or the aramid plates like yours.
