Greetings from central México. Giving up my sailboat and going back to motorcycles. Rode Bultaco's for a lot of years as a kid and Moto Guzzi's and Ducati's as a middle ager. Have had four cruising sailboats... last one now for sale in La Paz while I snuggle with my beautiful Mexican honey up here in the mountains. After the Ducati 900 SS, the center of gravity on the DR is taking some getting used to. This city is all cobble stones and steep hills, so I have already managed to drop my new baby on her side sitting in front of my apartment....at 69 I'm not strong enough to pick it up by myself... how embarrassing is that? :OMG: Anyway the surrounding mountain roads, dirt and paved, are beautiful, and if anyone is up this way, give a holler for a ride companion. Gear is expensive and hard to get here in México so mods will be slow and with many compromises. When I figure out the drill, will post some pictures of this beautiful country. The people here are the sweetest in the world.... come on down to México.

Welcome aboard. Sounds like a serene life. Look forward to some pics when it's convenient.

Welcome aboard sailor.
The DR is quit a nimble steerer compared to bigger road bikes.
Nimble enough to to change lines mid corner.

The best thing about adventure bikes are their low maintenance regime.
Don't need to feed them.
Don't need to trailer them to the action zone.
Don't need much room to store them.

Us old ex Taco riders are getting fewer.

Hablo poco...entiendo nada... pero, mi novia dice suficiente.... no se... posible. Vida es dulce, tranquilo y interesante. Todo bien :s_biggrin
Thanks for all of the encouraging words. Am really looking forward to exploring a lot of central México. Have seen the Pacific coast from Chiapas to La Paz but looking forward to the big inside .... and it is big inside  Have an adventure minded gal so both solo and two up in my future. All the great info on the forum will save an awful lot of pain.... thank you all!
