Andrew, welcome! Funny thing about your bus going back to the fatherland -- it seems like europeans have been shopping for classics a lot lately. I belong to a Volvo forum, and every good old Volvo that comes up for sale ends up going back to Sweden. Even ones from the northeast! You're going to miss that bus a little, though -- I had a '73 microbus in college, a karmann ghia, a squareback I drove across the country (and sold to a German guy in Albuquerque)... I miss them all. A little. I don't miss the $$$ I set on fire to keep them running.

That's the truth Chandler! The time and money needed to keep the bus running was why I had to sell it. My kids, my job, and all the work that needs done around the house didn't leave me with much left over to keep the bus running. I already let it sit once (for 10 years) while I was in college and then moved away for a time. When I came back, to my horror, I found that I had left a half tank of gas in the bus. Of course, by that time it had all turned to varnish and I had to have the gas tank pulled out and boiled to clean it up. It wasn't long after that I found the brake lights weren't responding and that was the final straw. I decided I needed to let it go to someone who had the time or money to keep it in good condition. So although I will miss it, I feel better thinking it will go to someone with more resources than myself.
