Also note that 525s aren't inherently stronger than 520s. The strength is based on sideplate and pin joint tensile strength, not roller width. The wider 525 has more wear area as noted, so like for like lasts a bit longer, maybe 25%.

Be careful with 520 CSS too, many are narrower than the stock 525 ones and tend eventualy to flog out the CS splines. DR Big ones are the solution.

The thicker 520 CSS only come in 14or15 from theses guys. Could be other manufacturers but here's are the part numbers for your Googleing pleasure

Assuming different sized chains are made from the same alloys, larger sizes with same loading should have longer life assuming equal maintenance. This is due to the increased surface areas of contact. Both of the sprockets and the teeth as well as the CS shaft and the CS itself.

One thing about the 525 CSs from PBI (all?), they have the wider boss, so no worries about wear of the CS shaft.
