Took the DR for its 1st proper run last weekend.
Meet 4 mates for a very chilly camping weekend in sunny Wales. Bike loading needs sorting but she managed OK kept a steady 70mph on the motorway

Did around 80 Mile round the north Wales area.even tho the other bikes were newer or bigger. The DR stuck with them just fine were not a fast riding group.
I got around 170miles out of a tank of petrol. And she didn't go on reserve. I did notice she doesn't like going under 3000 rmp in any gear gets quite lumpy. But runs sweet between 4 and 5000 rmp .
Got a 800 mile round trip next weekend that should see the road tyres that are on it out. I need to find a set that will take motorway miles but give me some grip in the snow and mud ready for my trip to Europe and the elephant rally on the German Austrian border. So if anyone can recommended a good set of duel purpose tyres let me no.

:2_thumbsup: Thanks for posting and I hope you'll give us a report with a few photos on the Elephant Rally when that's done. There are lots of good dual sport tires to choose from but I am not sure what's available and reasonably priced in the UK. German tires I could recommend for that purpose, which I suppose you could get, would include Mefo Explorer, the Metzler Karoo 3, and Heidenau K60 Scout; all fairly good on the highway and still perform respectably off-road, IMO.

Good luck and keep us posted. :s_cool

Took the DR for a long motorway (freeway) run at the weekend.265 miles down to the Cornish coast.
Spent two nights in a small bunkhouse and having a ride round. This will be the last shake down before the elephant rally in January.
We did around 600 miles over the 3 days. Although she run well and used no oil. There a few things I need to sort before we head for Europe at the end of January. Some wind protection for the legs and feet will be a must when we hit the snow some sponge grips to take away some of the vibes. The triumph tiger screen we adapted need to be higher to get some of the wind noise of the helmet.
At 5000 rmp I'm running at around 72 mph dose this sound right? As the bike got a Unknown history I guess I'm on standard sprockets. Is there anything to be gained in going up a tooth or two?
The crash bars have arrived so they will be going on over the hols with a pair of more snow friendly tyres. And a small flip screen on top of the existing one.
