Anyone use or know anything about this one? I am looking for an inexpensive GoPro type camera. Or can anyone suggest a cheap useful version of the GoPro? My son wants one but I don't know anything about these cameras. It would be helmet mounted for his dirt bike.

I have a GoPro...first generation....and paid over $300 Cdn for it.
This "HAWK" camera is one tenth of that price...I would draw an immediate conclusion on that basis alone.

If money is not an issue, then go ahead and buy one...it might last a week, might last a year. But at that price, you just know that a compromise was made somewhere.

That is a copy of a SJ4000 which is a copy of a GoPro. There are tons of them out there branded all different names. Pure junk. I have one.

If you want the same thing even cheaper get on ebay. I picked one up for about $18. They are ok but not HD.

For the price? If you don't mind low quality video they are fine but you won't be putting any HD quality stuff online.

Thanks. My 10 year old wants one. I will probably just tell him to ask his grandparents for the GoPro Hero+ WiFi that amazon has right now for about $130. That should more than suit his needs for now.

Some of the cheap knockoffs are OK at best, some are really pretty good and close to the GoPro but its a crapshoot as to what you get, if you want to save some money read the reviews and go from there, most of the ones stating they are 4K resolution are not, buyer beware.

Here is a video I made with the camera I have. Supposedly 1080P but the quality is bad. I don't know how to verify if it is really 1080P but the picture is very bad compared to my 1080P Contour camera. The video on Youtube looks like the same quality as on my computer straight from the camera. If I was going to buy a kid a camera this might work just to see how long it would last and how it was treated.

Get the genuine SJ4000. Cheaper than the GoPro, but the video and build quality is actually very good. Those real cheap cameras are best avoided. They are only good for toys to give the kids.
