Well done! :2_thumbsup:

Things I've added to the "oh sh*t" part of my tail bag - heavy zip ties to lock a deflated rear tire to the rim & an emergency bivvy.

The bivvy also came in handy as padding between my Acerbis 6.6 tank and the oil cooler guard before I got the tank stabilized.

Riding around "critters" is always a concern in the northeast USA. Whitetail deer are like rabbits in terms of population. You can find carcasses daily on any 50 mile stretch in my area. Dusk, dawn and dark are the worst times. I never hit one on a bike (thankfully) but did hit 2 (simultaneously) in my pickup truck at 75 mph a few months ago - in broad daylight! Almost $9K in cosmetic damage. Didn't slow the truck one bit. I lost both lights, bumper, radiator, A/C condenser, grill, and hood and all sorts of brackets. She made it a half mile to a station where I parked it leaking fluids...

Had I been on a bike it would have been catastrophic. Skippy's can be bigger! YIKES :crutch:

Wow - Crazy Story - glad you made it out.

I think you did the best you could have in that situation - took it in stride and one section at a time.

Def some things for others to learn from your adventure! And I agree ride more and write more - great read!
