For anyone wanting to see it on a bike. Install is easy. I did have to cut a little off the LHS to clear the gear shift lever, which is set low because of the lowered footpegs but at normal lever height there would be no issue.

I rode with aluminum skid plates for years until I installed a Acerbic plastic on my Honda 450X. Amazing difference on noise level I didn't realize how much engine noise the aluminum was resonating and echoing until I went to plastic. It was the first thing I changed out when I bought a used DR650 recently.

I've got one on my 2016 650 and really like it. Could not tell much difference in the sound/noise before and after install. Would buy again.

Rubber insertions between bash plate and lower frame rails helps to eliminate a lot the alloy noise amplification.

The synthetic bash plate looks a bit limited in the side wrap around protection area.

I notice when I park my DR on its side, often the bash plate and handle bar end are the only contact point with the ground.
