The pictures are a few weeks old from our annual MotoGP trip to Phillip Island, with this year's ride having a dirt flavour.
There is a DR in the photo background, just not mine, and the requisite burnt thing that is still burning.
It was a cool night camping on the banks of the Murray river at Tom Groggin in the Snowy Mountains.
The fire was re-stoked in the morning for a bit of warmth for our old bones and also that the "Coffee Wench" author could perform ceremonial duties.
Always be nice to your morning barista. They decide whether you have regular or decaf.
The challenge is a photo of a DR with a wet creek or river crossing.
The river is the Kowmung in the Blue Mountains NSW.
not playing the game atm,
just adding a slight diversion like i always seem to do in this thread..
good to see you went via dirt to GP this year.
i had to take the harley this year,
my mate with the 100GS shat it's carbies the weekend before we left and we had to have a change of plans
my mate on the DL still went down on dirt tyres - though only one easy dirt back road on the trip - the harley is not a dirt bike..!!
but i do have a pic of my DR probably taken in exactly the same spot as your DR, from earlier this year on my Solo lap of Aus.
I remember that spot well as I dropped my DR twice on that crossing exit on the other side of your pic.
it was tuffer and steeper than you're pic makes out.
It wasn't flowing as much as your pic and i mistakingly went with "she'll be right, just motor across..."
my DR was loaded like your bike, but also had food, 15 litres of water and 5 litres of fuel strapped on the back
(spent a couple of days exploring in there)
bike up ended itself from carrying too much speed on the bumpy exit and being too tail heavy with wet slippery tyres.
should have walked my water up, but i was being lazy and it bit me in the ass big time.
here's the pic looking back up the hill from you're spot,
(was a steep ride down to the your spot) taken just before I went across.
sorry taken just before I tried to get across and the bike was dumped..!!
I eventually got up there in the end and learnt to be not so lazy on further water crossings when solo..
A loaded DR is a beast to pick up on your own.
Hope you had a safe trip
might bump into you next year.
