NOTE: because of the way this forum is set up, NO ONE can respond to your post in the For Sale section. I'd suggest deleting it and posting it in another sub forum.

Tough to find a good used DR650 in UK. Many are beat on, not worth owning. There is a dealer in UK importing NEW DR's from the USA, or ... you can do it your self. Yes! it's been done.

Go onto HU, the HUBB forum for Horizon's Unlimited. Search around there in Suzuki section and also read this thread

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/s ... r650-81272

Bit of long process to get the bike, but several have managed, a few different ways to proceed. Good info on above thread. So, someplace to begin. Alan Hopkins bought a bike from USA dealer, got it shipped to UK. Took a while, but he's now on the road with the bike.
Whole story is told in above thread.

There are more used DR650's in Germany as they imported them longer there. Also, some show up for sale in UK, ridden overland from Australia. I've seen a few of these over last few years.
(DR650 is still sold NEW in Oz) also, DR's still sold new in USA, Canada, Ecuador and a few other countries, IIRC. Also, quite a few show up for sale in various places throughout S. America from travelers wanting to head home. Some GREAT deals if you're headed down that way anyway.

Good luck, let us know what you find! :drinks:

You're probably better off getting a CCM 644.......unless you need to load it up and hit the continent. Subframe may not be up to it... :pardon:
But alot of the ones I've seen usually include second set of wheels :2_thumbsup:
I think it's actually a better Dual Sport! :Roost:

Thanks for the replies guys. I really want the DR to do long trips on wherever I fancy going.

How hard is it to get one back from Australia?

Isn't it easier to get one from the EU while you still can?
Or trouble with MOT etc?

Yes, Ive heard Germany is quite good?

I was thinking Australia because I have a visa for work there. You can pick them up cheap!
Would be good to bring one back.

Don't you have some "kit car" regulation in the UK for home grown vehicle projects to receive registration plates? Like maybe importing a new DR in pieces from the US/Oz (engine/frame/electrical etc) and assembling it yourself. Or are there extravagant MOT rates for such stuff?

Fellow member ivan_j in Bulgaria had a less than optimum buying experience from an "honest german" seller the way that germans are not supposed to be and had to do some work to upkeep his DR (before modding) but you can always get the low mileage every other summer bike from there and maybe even ride it back yourself:

Sorry for dragging up an old post, but are you still looking for a DR in the UK? I've got a 2012 which will be up for sale very soon. Australian import; owned by myself from new (brought it back from Aus when I returned)

Other than about a 25,000Km ride, a couple of damp bits on the way, not that hard at all I'd reckon. :s_biggrin
Bite the bullet, come to the "Land Down Under", work for a while, get used to sunshine and chances are you won't even want to go back.
Problem solved!!
