Decided to change my front sprocket ,noticed two things

1st it's has more wear on the side closest to the engine ,is this because the chain was out of alignment ?

2nd there's play in the sprocket even when the bolts are torqued correctly..and according to a couple of videos this is normal ..?? I don't mean play on the splines..

Why the play, you would think if the sprocket was solid this would keep it running straighter..

Curious

Ok..duh

It's called free play and it's to help the front sprocket align with the chain..or so I'm told

Pretty much normal. You can fine tune alignment by grinding off the notches, or living with it. Although others have reported that alignment can be out 1 notch.
