What's something that you've never had to use camping but for whatever reason you insist on bringing it along every trip, just cuz or just in case?

Difficulty Level: Hard: Pistole, first aid kit and security blanket don't count.

I have 50 feet of rope that I bring. I have no idea why. My rappelling days are over. I just feel compelled to have a good length of rope along. Never needed it for an instant.

Maybe it was too much D&D as a kid. An adventurer needs 50 feet of rope and a wooden staff.

My compass. I've never HAD to use it, and I hope I never do.

Still whip it out once or twice a year just to remind myself that some skills are priceless.

Hmm . . . I'm stumped on this one. Other than my revolver, I think I've used, at some time, every piece of equipment I've carried hiking, backpacking, 4-wheeling. Compass, maps, 1st aid kit if we discuss band-aids and molefoam, paracord, tow straps - the only one I can come up with is a fire extinguisher. All of my pickup trucks and 4x4's owned over the years have a fire extinguisher in them. Never used it - not even to help someone else.

I have the "stuff" part down to just what is used. I always manage to pack extra clothes though. Either that or I need to change clothes more often. :s_biggrin

Other than regular tool belt that usually comes out for other guys bikes, this button.

Hope I never have to press it and if I do, hope it works.

I keep forgetting that our good neighbours to the South are allowed to pack handguns....must be nice!

We travel down to Bellingham on a regular basis and one day I was in Fred Meyer's Sporting Goods section, looking over the selection of pistols and concealable firearms.
The Clerk came over and asked if I wanted to see any one in particular.
I replied: "No thanks...I'm Canadian....we can't have nice things!"

He chuckled.
