Anyone got tips for getting that all important permission slip to leave the house and escape for a few hours on two wheels? Or do you just say "Going for a ride... be back sooner or later"?

I reckon in a bland safe modern world we males are still cavemen at heart, and if we can't be trampled when trying to hunt woolly mammoths badly, then at least we can hurt ourselves by riding motorbikes... badly.

I've put this vid together for wives and girlfriends to show we'll be better men if they let us injure ourselvves on two wheels. It's a long shot but worth a try!

give her the option... "Honey, there's a going away party for someone at work.. you know.. the cute girl in accounting.. anyway, I'd rather go riding but I should go to the party. Which one should I go to?"

No need making cockamamie excuses if you want to go ride go ride. I don't TELL my wife I'm going riding, I don't ask for permission either. I simple let her know a general time I'll be back and head out.

That's just egoist talk. Then don't marry lol

With some forethought you can still ride AND make the missus happy (she wants time for her hobbys as well, so what's the problem?)

my $0.02

My wife is happy for me to ride anytime i want, it is important to her to know basically where i will be riding,
that is in case i don't show up when i say i will. . She mentioned she doesn't want me to be laying around injured somewhere.
Love my wife.
