Thanks for the kind replies guys,

The screen is from a DR650RSE I've made my own fixings for it. Whilst it works really well its not been attached in a very pretty way...

I'll come back in August and teach that puddle a lesson :)

The other thing that can help is a piece of heavy canvas / sail cloth. Put it over the seat tied to foot rest etc and down the side of the bike. Pull the bike over on its side and slide it out on that. It also comes in handy for mending a flat on sandy ground.

Riding alone a lot I also carry a light weight 6:1 block and tackle to help with the pulling, provided I can find an anchor point.
