I guess this is the first year the Super Tenere has seen US shores? Impressive list of specs and features...ABS and unified braking, traction control, laced wheels and tubeless tires etc. It looks like the inverted spoke design that was used on the "86" Honda 450 Rebel. The 90 degree bend in the spoke mounts to a flange on the rim and the spoke nipple is on the hub. For that MSRP (cost more than 2 DR 650's) it had better be good! I would love to see a stripped down Supermoto version. A 1200cc Supermoto....cooool.

The front end is really ugly... but function wise this bike looks excellent. But I don't like it.

Too expensive and $500 deposit without a ride/ no refund

Dr650 still wins in my mind

I rode one. It was absolutely fantastic. Hard to describe, it was so good.

Too much money for me though.

My thoughts too...lots of high tech gadgetry on board. Too expensive out of the box and would no doubt be expensive to fix later on when that stuff needs service or malfunctions. I would rather have two low tech DR's for that kind of money.

When you compare it to a BMW R1200GS it's a bargain and not nearly as costly to maintain. From I've read it's received excellent reviews abroad, if I could justify a 3rd bike this is the one I'd bring home

575 lbs?! A 575 lb adventure bike? Really? Its a tank! :bad:

I don't know about you guys, but that much weight just isn't practical for real adventure riding. I'd have trouble getting over obstacles with it. It would probably give you a hernia or hemorroids trying to pick it up! I think its made to compete with the 1200 BMW GS. SUV type bikes that probably don't do much dirt duty for most owners, but look good in the garage and around town. Like a Hummer H2, or 4x4 pickup with low-profle tires. My buddy told me about some friends that have 1200 GS bikes and they insist on running dualsport tires even though they rarely hit gravel let alone dirt. Got to look adventuresome you know!

If I were to get a bigger adventure bike it would be a KTM 950/990.

All things being equal, I think I'd rather have the Tiger 800XC if I was going to get a bike in that class. That Super Ten is homely and heavy.

I will have those rims and spokes, you can keep the rest. I just don't like big, heavy, gizmo crammed bikes.
A dual sported/scrambled XS650 with re-phased crank is my idea of a big adventure bike :s_crazy

(anybody got an XS650 they don't want??? No? Damnit.)

That 1200 Super Tenere really is a brick! In my opinion a bike must either be high and light (Enduro) or - if it needs to be - low and heavy (Tourer). But high and heavy is a really senseless combination. Without question a BMW 1200, Honda Varadero or similar bikes are great tourers, but they feature an "offroad"-attitude they fail to deliver in real life. Try to turn a Varadero on the end of a narrow gravel-road, then you understand. And NEVER EVER drop that high-tech plastic bomber - for the money needed to rebuild it in all it´s "beauty" you could probably buy a new DR ...

EDIT says: If you like the idea of a 1200 SuMo take a look at the Aprilia 1200 Dorsoduro! http://www.aprilia.com/en-US/Model/6175 ... rview.aspx
