I now know a big loop i can take.

Theres a significantly longer loop that can contain substantial amounts of dirt road/firetrail.
Basically, Kangaroo Valley, Fitzroy Falls, one of a number of ways across to Robertson, Jamberoo, Kiama, then back down the highway to home.
Depending on how much dirt you do, it could take five hours from Berry, six with the customary stop at Robertson.
Best on a cool day, with no rain, little wind and no holiday traffic.
Let me know when you're up for it.

Spent yesterday riding around Kangaroo Valley. Behive Point is now gated near the end :s_mad . All other roads off Jacks Corner road are gated unless I missed something.
I did go a fair way along Leebold road almost to Bugong Gap Trail but being alone and in the 40's I decided to turn around. It looks like that trail comes out at Mt Scanzi.

Cheers
Andrew

Gee, the way we went, we didnt notice a gate at the entrance to Beehive pt track.
However there is a gate about 4km in that wont be bypassed though.

I wouldnt mind betting that Leebold rd is the track that comes in right at the summit of Mt Scanzi.
This track usually is well locked at the Mt Scanzi end.

Bugong gap trail comes out couple of click south of mt scanzi.

That's the one. It turns into Bugong Gap Trail then comes out on Mt Scanzi road according to Google maps. Why would they gate it at one end only?. I might go back for a better look next weekend.

Yup. Think left.
Actually its obscenely easy considering the amount of trouble they've gone to with the gate - all bluff.
P.S. I definitely would not ride down there if there were cars in the car park.

Why? In this case the only "passing" traffic is on mt Scanzi rd. Not much point keepin the other end closed.
Often these are public or ex-public roads passing through private property.
The rights to use and the rights to block are very hazy. Shotguns always win.

Hi Doug.
Riding has taken a bit of a back seat for me lately.
Preparing to take off on the big lap* after easter for about four months.
I'll catch up with you sometime around September.

* The big lap is a circumnavigation of Australia - a bit of an institution for retirees down here.
