Our good friends at Warp 9 have done it again.
They just released some all new forged alloy tubeless wheels in supermoto sizes. Of course ProCycle already started beating them up about getting them for the DR650 crowd. Seems they're not convinced DR650 riders will be all that interested. Sure, these are not for everybody but I believe there are plenty of DR riders who would put down the bucks to have them. Did I mention they are tubeless? The current price is pegged at $1699 for the set including brake rotors.

As awesome as these would be on my street/touring DR no way could I justify spending what will end up being almost $2,000 after fitting tires for a set of wheels.

Yeah, they are certainly not for everybody.
To give the pricing some perspective a premium set of laced up supermoto wheels - billet hubs, Sun rims, Buchanan's SS spokes comes to $1550. We sell a lot of those every year. Tubeless forged wheels are only 10% more.

They look great, but all my bikes are dirt oriented so not much use for me. They probably would look great though...apparently with some work you can fit CBR 250RR wheels on a DR.

Nice looking wheels for sure! In the world of after market alloy wheels, I think they are reasonably priced. However, for me, the DR is a "dirt bike". Some may think it's a lot to spend on a bike that is <$6k brand new. But if they are going for a nice sumo, street only build it could be worth it. I dare not add up all the farkling expenses incurred by making mine a worthy off road machine. Hopefully, for the guys that want them, there is a enough interest to make it happen. They are pretty sweet!

Looks like a great option if you were going with a 100% street oriented Supermoto.

Especially if you wanted to go with tubeless tires. :good:

Personally, if I did get a second set of rims, I'd probably opt for the 19" front / 17" rear Adventure wheel setup.

There is some chance that some a matching 19" front may follow later.

As a sumo rider myself, AND owner of Warp 9 laced wheels, this option does not resonate with me.
First is the cost. While that is a very fair price-point for forged, the "farkle-to-bike-value" ratio is too high.
Second, the added weight. Laced sumo is already way heavier that Laced dual-sport, so these will only add to un-sprung weight - aka less responsive suspension characteristics.
