We've created a new Member Location forum and Fusion table graphical map. The forum helps traveling DRRiders members find other members in the area they are planning to visit and also just let's everyone know where DR650 riders are located across the globe.

The thought is that a willing member will provide their general location (Country, State/Province, City) in the subject line followed by any type of services offered in the main body of the post. It can be as simple as email/PM help for your location that might be helpful to someone traveling through your neck of the woods (cool riding areas for them to check out) to offering a place to stay the night, tent pitching room, tools/workshop, other tourist opportunities in your area, a cup of coffee or a beer, or maybe just willing to meet up someplace in town for a meal. If you don't want to offer services or info you can just fill out the subject line and we will still put you on the global graphical map.

To protect privacy you'd handle any specific information through the PM or email system. Please do not post your address or exact GPS coordinates.

This is a very cool idea and another great service that DRRiders can bring to the DR riding community. Thanks to GoFastTTGuy for the awesome suggestion and WoodRat for helping to promote a great idea for the DR community. :good:

For anyone who hasn't posted in Member Locations yet, you can do so here: http://drriders.com/forum47.html

Your post simply puts you on the map as being there to assist another member, in some way, who may be passing through your area. Offerings posted so far have been wide ranging, but more participation is needed for better coverage in all areas. Examples of posts to date include mechanical assistance, electrical assistance, help changing a tire, tools to make a repair, space to pitch a tent, possible accommodation, guest room, food, coffee and beer, offer to guide on a local ride, recovery gear for up to a ton or two, and it goes on. Good information alone could be a big help for someone unfamiliar with your area. The point is, you specify how you can assist, along with any parameters that may apply such as availability.

the dualsport community over on reddit made a user editable map

https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit? ... N5qMr8yQX0

Maybe we could do something like this too?

http://www.reddit.com/r/dualsport

This is a great idea btw, reminds me of the cycling couch surfing directory called warmshowers for people touring across the country.

OK! WoodRat and I have a fusion table map linked up to our site! It is listed under the Adventure Addicts subforum. Please add your data to the "data forum" in the requested format/subject matter and one of us will make sure you get added to the live map! We have a DRRiders PM link now working on the map... so when you click on someone's map point you get all of their posted data plus a direct DRRiders PM link. You will have to be a DRRiders member and you will have to be signed into DRRiders for the direct PM link to work... but it will take you to the sign in screen and then directly to the PM system once you get signed in. This will keep members from getting internet spam in their PM system mailboxes.

Of course this is the first pass still testing the waters map but it is looking like we can do some fairly cool things with the Fusion Table like linking member area web sites, tourism, chamber of commerce, restaurants, businesses, etc. Even links to pictures of the area that the member knows of links to. We will start off with the basic data and PM links (as we add them) for now.

Comments and suggestions????

He's a bit confused I see..... I'm sure I'd be in a similar stew on a Spanish only forum. Wait to see if he responds?
