Why would you ever remove your chain other than to replace it? Sprocket change? All can be done with chain in place. Cleaning? Nope.
Tell me all the reasons why.

Not limited to only removal of the chain but even being able to couple/uncouple the chain:

1. If you are using a non o-ring type chain its had to boil you chain in oil with it on the bike.
2. Because I can if I want too.
3. I don't need to own a chain breaker with a clip type master link.
4. I can more easily measure chain stretch with the chain laying on a long flat work surface at waist height.
5. I don't have to disassemble a new chain guide to install it. Simply un-clip the master link, slide the chain back install the guide, slip the chain through the guide and refasten the link.
