I try to remember to look where I'm going instead of looking at my bike

Something must be wrong with your tune.

I am a noob with my DR but it does have the Acerbis 5.3 with single petcock and just yesterday I put almost 230 miles (not km) on a tank and did not hit reserve. When I filled up I put in 4.9 gallons. That kind of shocked me as I expected their to be at least a 1/2 gallon reserve. Does anyone know what the reserve is for the 5.3 with single petcock?

about 50km to empty for me, so not much.

I took my 2007 on the IDBDR last month with the PC pumper carb, airbox mods and the FMF power bomb and Powercore muffler with spark arrestor and noise reducer ring. Also had the Acerbis 5.3 tank. Everything worked flawlessly. My bike runs much stronger than before. I took several mileage readings and was getting 50 to 53 miles per gallon.

Very pleased with the Acerbis fuel tank. I have the black and it looks great on my bike. I never worried about fuel on this trip. The JNS gear worked great also. The rocks were really banging on the skidplate riding up the mountain behind the Cinabar Mine above Yellow Pine.

I had a mileage issue with my DR650 -- I used to get just under 180km with the stock tank (before reserve), but then after some airbox mods, I dropped to 120km. This wasnt acceptable, but after re-jetting, now Im getting over 190km (bonus!) before hitting reserve. So Id say, based on my case, it may need re-jetting.

Funny how most guys dont like the look of the 6.6, I actually chose the 6.6 bc I thought it looked better than the 5.3 or any other tank. I had a natural Safari and I thought it was a little too big this tank is just right. Feels very comfortable and I can out ride my buddy on his KLR now!

BTW, I chose the blue to match my bike and agree, much better than natural...
