I remember going to the movies with my parents way back when this show was first out. Somewhere around 1971.
I loved it. I had been riding mini-bikes for about 3 years and my buddies little Kawasaki and a few Trail 50's. I ate this show up.
Just a few years later I had my own Yamaha 125. I hadn't ever watched this show again. I found it on hulu.com and watched it.
It is a great show if you love motorcycles! The "cow trailing" at the end made me laugh. We used to haul all 3 of our bikes over to my grandparents farm in Illinois and ride in the cow pastures. We used to do a lot of what Steve McQueen does in that scene in this movie.
BTW - The 3 bikes. Dad's Kawasaki 250 2 stroke, my Yamaha 125 2 stroke, and my mom's Honda Trail 90.

If you have never watched this show, I highly recommend it! If your internet connection is fast enough, Hulu is a good place to watch it.

Oh yeah, it is worth watching this show just to hear the 2 stroke music, not to mention Steve McQueen and Malcom Smith.

Bruce Brown's epic dirt bike film.... cult status among the long in the tooth off-roaders like myself. Image

There was some real history being made then. Without sounding like a crotchety old geezer, those were definitely the days.

Memorized that thing in my yooot. Still have a copy...on VCR....must upgrade.

If you have one DNA molecule of motorcycling in your blood, On Any Sunday will make you go buy something with two wheels and a motor.

Classic.

Its a favorite of mine. My nephews, 8 & 10, will sit and stare at the TV for the entire movie every time they come over. Pretty sure they'll be riders eventually, regardless of what their mother says. ;)

Saw it in the theater when it first came out. Now me and the boys get together a couple times to bench race and reminisce. Love the long wheelie by a ten year old Jeff Ward. Seriously cool how young riding has kept guys like Wardie and Malcolm Smith. Damn good movie. Heard that Bruce Browns' son was in Catalina filming Malcolm for OAS3....

Seen it - bought the DVD. I've been lucky enough to have a conversation with Malcolm Smith too.
He is a very down to earth guy. In fact all those guys are my heros. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

The west coast flat trackers come thru town once a year so I rode down early to see if I could help. Some guy told me to be back at 5 and they'd find me something to do. I showed back up and found the same guy and he made me a corner flagger for turn 3. Well the show starts and the guy I'd been talking to is introduced as Gene Romero, the promoter for the event. Name doesn't mean anything to me until the next morning when I'm watching a re run of On Any Sunday and there's Gene winning the Sacramento mile and wearing the #1plate.

I was 14 years old and took my first date to it. Dad drove us in the family station wagon. My (first) girlfriend's older brother had gone to boarding school in Austria and came home with a Puch 175, which he raced at the local motocross (we called MX scrambles then). I got a Yamaha 125 MX a couple of years later and the rest is history. Best scene for me is the three Huskies on the beach ending. Have always wanted to recreate that scene personally, but never had the opportunity.

SAVE THE CUSH DRIVE: PayPal me just $10 a day, and I promise not to throw away or abuse my cush drive. In fact if 10 of you PayPal me $10 a day, I will reinstall my poor cush drive along with the bar end weights, passenger pegs, and Civic sized muffler.
