I wonder if something similar to look and functionality of that big red and white DRZ could be created from the DR with a few mods. Custom front fairing beak (or maybe the safari fairing is similar?), safari tank, windshield, tci products headlight guard, cushier seat, custom rear auxiliary fuel tanks, big bore kit and cam kit in the motor for more power. If I had the money I would do all that, get some serious practice in some motorcycle rallies here in Australia (maybe not with ALL the mods all the time) then head over to Africa to do the Dakar rally.

Good plan. Only problem is the Dakar rally is now in South America

I knew that, South America. I knew that they didn't actually go to Dakar anymore but I didn't realize they'd moved continents.

I have heard that a group of Chileans motorcyclists, who own Suzuki DR650 `s. ... have gone to the desert of Copiapó to watch, live and direct, the runners to pass .... It is true that they are not running ... but at least it's nice to know that some representatives of our bikes will be in place.
